How I do Glowing Lighting - Marker art by tea-bug How I do Glowing Lighting - Marker art by tea-bug
A 'sort of' tutorial, because this is 'how I do it' rather than 'this is how it is done' - I'm sure there are other ways, maybe better ways, of making similar effects, but I'd been asked how I made the 'glowing' effect on pieces such as:

:star: Materials I used:
+ Coloured fineliners - I use Staedtler triplus fineliners in yellow and light grey.
+ Black fineliners - Any marker proof ones will do, I like to use either Uni Pin fineliners in size 0.1-0.8 or Staedtler Pigment Liners in the same sizes.
+ Alcohol based Markers - I use a mixture of various Letraset Pro-Markers, Flex-Markers, Copic markers and Kuretake Zig markers. They all have plus points for different things.
+ Pencil crayons - prety much any will do, but I prefer to use some with a bit of a wax, rough texture to them. For above I used Berol Karismacolor pencils and good old Crayola pencils : )
+ White gel ink pen (used for effects and stars) - any will do the job, but I seem to like Pentel's Hybrid gel ink pen.

This was the first time I've done anything like a tutorial so I hope this might be useful to some people!
Let me know if you have any questions, or if you try it out!

This is exactly what I wanted from you! I love to know how you do things and I hope I can use this to try and replicate your amazing coloring style in some of my own work. This must have taken you so so long to make, I am sure it's much appreciated among so many other artists. Thank you, keh!

Thank you so much for this! I'm pretty new to markers and had no idea how to do glow-y effects without scanning into Photoshop. I would have never thought to use my colored pencils! :D
