I'm not really feeling great about DA at the moment. It's not just the AI Art issue - I have my own thoughts, opinions and concerns about that and I don't really want to debate it in the comments.

But what troubled me more out of the whole issue is how DA staff have handled it. I was disappointed enough by them being tone deaf enough to introduce their own AI art generating tool, but their reaction to feedback and way they have addressed artist's concerns (including that awful twitter space/interview) has been awful.

I admittedly having been super active on DA for some time - I have been posting but since Eclipse and other poorly thought out site changes I have honestly not been browsing and interacting with people as much as I have previously. I was looking forward to using the site more - but it's difficult, clunky, hard to navigate - and the AI fiasco has been the last straw for now. I just don't really trust the site and they obviously don't have the best interests of artists in mind.

However I have been on DA for a very long time (on and off) 16 years on this account and I had another account before that for several years. I remember when the hub of my 'social' internet was DA and Livejournal! (I am old lol)

Because I have trouble making final decisions and also because I get very nostalgic and hope that DA will eventually listen to it's users and will make the changes the site needs to make it functional and fun again rather than doing what they think will make the site most profitable above that - I am not deactivating. I have put my work in storage for now. (All this actually coincides with me thinking about archiving a lot of my older work from the internet in general anyway. So if I do go back to posting on here I can start fresh with older works I still like and new stuff.)

I'm leaving my account up as a placeholder for now, and may occasionally update with anything important or if/when I re-open commissions etc.

Below is my TOS/Usage for my adoptable character/outfit designs - Please read before bidding/buying!

Buying/Bidding:

Please DO NOT bid if you do not have the money/no intention to buy!

There are no returns/refunds for changing your mind, so think before your submit a bid or offer to buy!

Non-paying bidders/buyers:

I will contact you via DA note if you win to get your Paypal email address for sending the invoice. If I do not hear back from you within 24 hours or you do not pay within 48 hours of receiving the Paypal invoice and do not contact me within that time frame, I will assume you no longer intend to pay & offer the adoptable to the next highest bidder or put it back on sale.

If you are a non-paying bidder/buyer or withdraw your bid without a very good reason you will be blacklisted/blocked from bidding/buying further adoptables, YCH or commissions from me in the future.

(‘I forgot I bid on it’ is not a good enough reason!)

By bidding, you confirm you have read my TOS & will abide by them.

If you do something against the terms of sale I will politely message you to let you know so you can correct it, however continued or extreme abuse of these terms means I may consider blacklisting you from further auctions/commissions & taking back the design to resell it, transferring all rights to the new owner.

Personal Use:

Once purchased, you may:

• Use the character design as inspiration/reference to make your own artworks or commission them from others. (if you wish to use the character design in your own artwork to sell, please see the information below)

• Make small design or palette changes to the design

• You may repost the small, watermarked version of the original character artwork to your account if you wish to show other people your character.*

• Purchase/gift them to a friend (with the understanding they read my terms of use) please let me know who the new owner is.

• Use the character as your avatar, user icon etc.*

• Use the character as your RPG character.*

* You may use my original artwork of the character for these purposes only, credit is appreciated!

You may not:

• Re-sell or trade the adoptable (it’s too much for me to keep track of who is doing what with it – sorry!)

• Re-sell the character design or the original artwork in another way (if you wish to use the character design in your own artwork to sell, please see the information below.)

• Claim the design is your own.

• Re-use my original artwork of the character/outfit (unless using as avatar/user icon or RPG character – that’s fine!) Do not remove my signature from the original artwork.

• Re-post the large version/file of the artwork anywhere online. (That’s just for you.)

• Re-use/copy/trace/recolour the artwork to make your own adoptables/bases.

Small Artist Use:

If you are a fellow ‘small’ self employed/hobby artist like myself who would like to use the character design on original (redrawn) artworks you have made yourself which you intend to sell on a small scale as prints or stickers ect. online or at conventions that is okay by me. You may also use the character design for a character in a small press comic/webcomic.

However you may not:

• Claim that you designed the character/outfit

• Re-sell the design to someone else as though it was your own (eg: a client)

• Use the original artwork that I drew of the character (you need to make your own works)

• Use the character design for large scale/commercial work or a brand mascot (see below)

• It would be great if you could credit me for the design where you can (eg: online posts)

• Use the design as the basis of products for a kickstarter or similar funded large campaign (see below)

Commercial Use:

If you want to use the character/outfit design OR my original artwork of them for more commercial purposes such as a shop/brand mascot, basis or products for a kickstarter or similar funded campaign for profit or to intend to make original artwork/stickers/pins etc. from the design to sell merchandise on a larger scale please contact me for an additional license fee to grant you full permissions.
